Well records
Finding your well registration number
Arizona wells carry a registration number that starts with 55-. It is the key to your well record, and it is useful to have when you call.
This is a referral line. When you call, you are connected with an independent local well pump company.
Where to look
Search the ADWR Well Record Search (opens in a new tab). You can search by parcel number, by location, or by owner name. Wells are registered to the parcel, not the person.[source]
Closing papers from a home purchase sometimes include the number. A tag on the well casing may too.
What the record tells you
Depending on the well, the record can include drilled depth, casing size, the driller's log, the water level at drilling and the pump information. That is a big head start for a pump company.
Keep it with your house papers
Once you find the number, write it on a card near the pressure tank and keep a copy with your closing documents. Add the drilled depth and the date of any pump work. The next time something breaks, you or anyone calling for you will have the details a company asks for first.
