Costs
What affects pressure tank replacement cost
A pressure tank is a surface job, which is good news. The price still varies with a few things worth asking about.
This is a referral line. When you call, you are connected with an independent local well pump company.
Tank size and type
Bigger tanks hold more water between starts and cost more. Bladder and diaphragm tanks are common. Ask how the company sized your tank.
Location and access
A tank in a tight crawlspace or a far pump house can take longer than one in a garage.
Alternatives
Some owners consider a constant pressure system with a smaller tank instead. See our comparison.
Compare quotes fairly
Ask each company for the tank model and size, the parts replaced, labor and warranty, and their Arizona ROC license number.[source]
Timing
A pressure tank that is failing is usually not an emergency, but it makes the pump work harder. That means you can often schedule the work for a regular weekday instead of paying for urgent timing. Ask the company when they can come and whether timing affects the price. If the tank has already failed and the pump is short cycling hard, say so, because that changes how soon it should be done. Ask, too, whether the old tank will be hauled away.
Questions
Can I just recharge my tank?
If the bladder is intact, sometimes. The company will check.
Why no prices?
We are a referral line and do not set or publish prices.
Is a bigger tank always better?
Not always. It should match the pump and household.
