What affects the cost of a well pump replacement
We do not publish prices, because we cannot verify them and every well is different. Here is what changes the price, so you can ask good questions.
This is a referral line. When you call, you are connected with an independent local well pump company.
Depth and setting
The deeper the pump is set, the more pipe and wire has to come up and go back down, and the more equipment it takes. Local median depths run from 265 ft in Humboldt to 510 ft in Prescott Valley 86312.[source]
The pump itself
Pump size and type depend on depth, water level and yield. A larger or deeper-setting pump generally costs more.
What else is replaced
Wire, drop pipe, check valves, the pressure switch and the tank are sometimes replaced at the same time. Ask what is included and what is optional.
Access and timing
Distance, gate access, a tight pump house, and after-hours calls can all affect the price. Ask about trip charges and timing on the call.
How to compare quotes
Ask each company to list the pump model, setting depth, what is being replaced, labor, and warranty. Ask for the Arizona ROC license number and check it on the Arizona Registrar of Contractors: contractor search (opens in a new tab).
Warranty and paperwork
Ask what warranty comes with the pump and with the labor, and who handles a claim. Ask for a written invoice that lists the pump model, the motor size, the setting depth and the parts replaced. Keep it with your well registration number. It will help the next company that works on your well.
Questions
Why will you not give a price?
We are a referral line, not a contractor, and every well is different. The company you reach will quote.
Is a cheaper quote worse?
Not necessarily. Compare what is included.
Do permits apply?
Ask the company. Drilling or deepening a well needs an ADWR notice.[source]
